When it comes to traveling during the winter season, we mostly find that people fall into one of two categories. They either embrace the cold and seek out the best destinations for a winter adventure, or follow the warm weather. If you’re more of the latter type, or just tired of icy sidewalks and overheated buildings, we’ve compiled a list of some of the best sunbathing spots in the US.
Palm Springs, California
Whether you’re looking for a warm US winter vacation destination for a few rounds of golf, something artistic, or just a break from the city, Palm Springs is the perfect place to stay in the US! The Greater Palm Springs area definitely has its own cool vibe all year round, although it’s not the kind of cool that you can read on a thermometer.
Throughout the Coachella Valley, you’ll find several vacation rentals with private pools that are perfect for lounging and soaking up as much of the winter United States sun as possible. Or, if you’re looking for a more adventurous activity, a day trip to Joshua National Park is ideal for hiking and rock climbing.

However, the cooler weather doesn’t mean there’s less life in the city. In true New Orleans style, there’s always a party and something to celebrate! On Christmas Eve, the streets are lined with burning bonfires. Then, at the end of January, visitors can celebrate the Vietnamese New Year.

And although temperatures are cool throughout Maui’s winter, “cool” actually means only 80℉ (26℃) instead of 87℉ (30℉), making it an ideal destination for soaking up some winter sun in the US.
